Riyadh: The 12th Riyadh Economic Forum, scheduled for October 12-14, will discuss five specialized studies addressing key development issues. The forum serves as a national platform for supporting decision-makers with economic insights based on scientific analysis and global best practices.

According to Saudi Press Agency, one study focuses on promoting the use of smart agricultural technologies, including artificial intelligence and other impactful technologies, to achieve water and food security. It highlights the importance of leveraging modern technologies to develop the agricultural sector and improve resource efficiency amid water scarcity, climate change, and rising food demand.

Another study examines strategies for transferring and localizing knowledge and expertise and their impact on organizational performance. It focuses on strengthening the knowledge economy, developing national talent, and transforming knowledge into sustainable productive value to support economic growth and enhance global competitiveness.

On infrastructure, the forum will discuss a study on the impact of traffic congestion in Saudi Arabia's major cities, including its economic, social, and environmental effects. The study proposes practical solutions to improve urban transport efficiency, enhance quality of life, and support the transition toward smart, sustainable cities.

The forum will also examine the impact of legislation and public policies on sustainable development. The study focuses on improving impact-assessment tools, enhancing policy efficiency, and aligning policies with economic, social, and environmental development goals. It also aims to support evidence-based decision-making and strengthen governance and transparency.

Another study explores ways to maximize the economic and social returns from Saudi Arabia's hosting of Expo 2030 Riyadh and the FIFA World Cup 2034. It examines how major international events can become sustainable drivers of development by supporting economic diversification, boosting investment, and creating jobs while strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global destination for major events.

Discussions are expected to produce recommendations and initiatives aimed at improving public policy, enhancing the efficiency of various economic sectors, and keeping pace with rapid global developments. The efforts also seek to support sustainable, inclusive development and strengthen the competitiveness of the Saudi economy regionally and globally.
