Roads General Authority Launches Road Tent Initiative to Serve Pilgrims During Hajj 1447 AH

Giza: The Roads General Authority launched the second edition of its road tent initiative on the Hijrah Road linking Makkah and Madinah as part of efforts to provide a safe and comfortable environment for pilgrims traveling between the holy sites during the 1447 AH Hajj season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority explained that the initiative aims to enhance the experience of pilgrims and Umrah performers through an air-conditioned tent equipped with full amenities. These include light meals and cold beverages provided in partnership with SASCO, in addition to awareness and guidance materials related to road safety instructions.

The initiative is part of a series of programs implemented by the authority to develop road network infrastructure and improve operational efficiency. The programs also provide equipped rest areas that enhance the quality of travel between Makkah and Madinah.

Through this initiative, the authority reaffirmed its commitment to achieving the objectives of the road sector program. These include reaching sixth place globally in the road quality index by 2030, reducing road fatalities to fewer than five cases per 100,000 people, and ensuring road network coverage under international road safety assessment standards while increasing road capacity.

These efforts build on the Kingdom's position as the world leader in road network connectivity, supporting smooth traffic flow and ensuring safe and comfortable travel for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
