Saudi Arabia Participates in Ministerial Meeting of Arab Economic and Social Council

The Assistant Deputy Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Finance, Naif Al-Enzi, headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation participating in the 112th ministerial meeting of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League, held today at the headquarters of the Arab League. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, ministers of economy, trade, and finance and their representatives in Arab countries.

The meeting, presided over by Yemen, discussed the preparation of the draft agenda of the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, slated to be held in Mauritania on November 6 and 7, and the economic and social portfolio of the 33rd Arab Summit to be held in Bahrain in March 2024.

Al-Enzi delivered the Kingdom's speech in which he stressed the Kingdom's keenness to establish cooperation in facing regional and international challenges and assist in developing Arab and Islamic countries by providing bilateral aid and contributing to regional and international organizations.

Al-Enzi further underscored the Kingdom's pioneering role in supporting the stability of the global economy by maintaining the stability of energy markets and facing climate and geopolitical challenges, as well as its pioneering role in the G20, which resulted in launching initiatives that contributed to reducing debts of many developing countries.

Additionally, he highlighted the decisions of the Arab Summit held in Jeddah last May, which included food, cultural and economic security initiatives, indicating the Kingdom's endeavour to develop these initiatives to strengthen joint Arab action.

The Committee on Follow-up and Preparation for the Arab Development Summit: Economic and Social held today a ministerial meeting at the Arab League headquarters, chaired by Lebanon, the chair of the 4th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit (Beirut 2019), in which the Kingdom participated. The meeting discussed the outcomes of the summit and the main projects and programs that resulted from it.
