Saudi Boxing Team Wins Record 17 Medals at Braga Open Boxing 2026

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's national boxing team concluded its campaign at the Braga Open Boxing 2026 tournament in Portugal with a record 17 medals, marking the Saudi Boxing Federation's largest medal tally at a single international tournament.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the team also claimed the federation's first-ever gold medals at an international event, reflecting the continued technical and competitive progress of Saudi boxing.

The ninth Braga Open Boxing featured strong competition from 129 national teams and clubs from around the world. Saudi boxers delivered impressive performances, winning seven gold, five silver, and five bronze medals.

Nawaf Alenezi, Abdurahman Hmaidan, Faris Almalki, Feras Alsubhi, Nawaf Awaji, Abdulrahman Sadek, and Rifal Al-Muhaisin won gold medals for Saudi Arabia.

Anas Almadani, Ali Al-Owa, Nawaf Aljohani, Bader Al-Huthali, and Danah Alanazi won silver medals.

Esmail Alqassimi, Abdullah Darkazli, Mubarak Al-Sihi, Ayham Hmadian, and Ahmed Hunbos completed the medal tally with bronze medals.

The Saudi team's participation formed part of the federation's development program to prepare national teams across all age groups through international competition and exposure to leading boxing programs worldwide.

The program aims to raise technical standards, broaden athletes' experience, and strengthen Saudi Arabia's presence on the continental and international stage.

The Braga Open Boxing is one of the sport's leading international events. Its ninth edition attracted broad participation from national teams and clubs, providing athletes with valuable competitive experience and helping them prepare for upcoming international competitions.
