Salvador: Saudi Deputy Minister of Culture for International Cultural Relations, Eng. Fahad Abdulrahman Alkanaan, engaged in a series of discussions with international officials in Salvador, Brazil. This engagement occurred during his participation in the 5th G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting, representing Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Alkanaan held a meeting with Claudia Roth, the Minister of State for Culture and the Media of Germany. Their discussions focused on enhancing cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Germany, particularly in areas such as art and archaeological artifact loans, expertise exchange, and specialized museum exhibitions. They also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s participation in the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair and the executive program between the Libraries Commission and the Berlin State Library scheduled for May 2024. r was highlighted.
In another meeting, Alkanaan discussed cultural collaborations with China’s Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Zhang Zheng. Their dialogue centered on the memorandum of understanding signed in March, which includes launching the Saudi-China Cultural Year 2025. This initiative aims to enhance cultural ties between the two nations by organizing events and festivals that showcase Saudi and Chinese heritage, as well as implementing joint cultural activities.
Furthermore, Alkanaan met with Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa. Their discussions addressed ongoing cultural cooperation, focusing on initiatives such as traveling exhibitions, artistic residencies, and efforts to preserve cultural heritage.
