Saudi National Institute of Health Promotes Prevention of Health Risks, Increases Returns of Innovation in Healthcare

The healthcare sector has achieved many achievements, such as enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services and facilitating access to these services by focusing on digitizing the health sector, launching a set of applications, such as Sehhaty and Mawid, and expanding service range to cover all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

To improve the efficiency and quality of this vital sector, the Saudi National Institute of Health (Saudi NIH) was established as one of the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Health to attain the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by supporting biomedical research in the health sector.

The Saudi NIH manages health research, translational research and clinical trials. The institute aims to ensure the quality and efficiency of high-quality national health research outputs to improve society's health, well-being, and quality.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the CEO of the Saudi NIH, Dr. Faris Alenazi, said, "The institute will promote prevention against health risks through research, development and innovation in the development of health policies and strategies."

Alenazi added, "The Saudi NIH utilizes mechanisms to promote public health in the Kingdom; including addressing health priorities for patients and health care providers, benefiting from research outputs to develop health policies and strategies to support public health, and contributing to increasing the returns from health innovation through the development of innovative national products for prevention, diagnosis and treatment."
