Riyadh: The Saudi Water Authority has announced a new mandate requiring all entities involved in water services, including both public and private sector participants, to apply for licenses electronically. This initiative is part of a broader effort to regulate the industry and enhance the quality and reliability of water services across the Kingdom.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority has developed methodologies to monitor the performance of licensed entities using a range of indicators that focus on supply chains, water quality, and usage efficiency. Compliance with these indicators and licensing conditions is expected to lead to improved service quality.
The Saudi Water Authority has also launched a public awareness campaign, ‘Your License is Easier’, to explain the electronic licensing process to those involved in water service activities. The authority’s role includes regulating and overseeing water and sewage service activities in Saudi Arabia by issuing licenses to protect consumer intere
sts, ensure water quality, and support the supply chain.
Entities that engage in water and sewage service activities without the necessary licenses are in violation of the Water Law and may face penalties. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their licensing requests via the authority’s website to comply with the new regulations.
