The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) received an international award for excellence in sustainable mining practices.
The recognition followed after the SGS presented innovative geological and scientific studies on the Umm Jirsan Cave. The award was presented to the SGS by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, UAE’s Fujairah Emirate’s Crown Prince.
The SGS was chosen from a pool of 65 participants representing 13 countries. The award is testament to its outstanding achievements in safeguarding geological heritage. The recognition highlights the ongoing dedication of the SGS to promote sustainability and protect the Kingdom’s invaluable geological resources.
The award marks a significant milestone in bolstering international collaboration in geology and mining and highlights the crucial role the SGS plays in promoting sustainable development.
