Najran: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque: continues to enhance its operational and technical systems to provide a comfortable and safe environment for pilgrims during this year's Hajj season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Grand Mosque operates one of the world's largest cooling systems, with a total capacity of 155,000 cooling tons. This system maintains stable temperatures between 22°C and 24°C through 77 thermal sensors and air purification systems with an efficiency rate of up to 95%. The Prophet's Mosque features a central cooling station with six units of 3,400 tons each, covering 2,357 pillars and 550 air conditioning units.
For mobility, the Grand Mosque operates 224 escalators and 22 elevators, serving more than 200,000 pilgrims per hour. Meanwhile, the Prophet's Mosque provides 180 escalators and 25 elevators, all maintained to the highest safety standards.
Lighting systems across both mosques are managed by the Building Management System (BMS), enabling smart control based on prayer times and crowd density. Central command and control rooms monitor all systems in real time, with data analysis technologies used to predict malfunctions, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce energy and water consumption.
