The Italian company that designed the Development Road Project Plans, "BEG", disclosed the stages of its work in studying and designing the project, which confirmed its economic importance to Iraq and the countries of the region.

"We have been chosen to study the preliminary and final feasibility of the project phases, the initial design phases, the final design phases, and the traffic flow," Bruno Triggata, vice president of the company, said in a press conference from the government palace in the capital, Baghdad, today, Saturday.

He explained, "We started this project about a year and a half ago, and finished the feasibility study at the end of 2022, by choosing the best railway route and highways to transport goods from the port of Faw to the borders of Turkey."

He added, "The feasibility study is a set of tracks for railways and highways, where the path of the development road was chosen based on the geographical data and topography, and the project study was based on the completion of the pre-feasibility of the large port of Faw project, which we carried out in addition to another Italian company." .

He went on to say, "The project is a major opportunity for all Iraqis, because it will diversify the Iraqi economy and will develop several economic sectors, including commercial, economic, service, agricultural and renewable energy, and it will also be synonymous with the gas and oil sector," noting that "the project does not serve Iraq alone, but serves all countries of the region.
