The KDP comments on the Federal Court’s decision on the Kurdistan Region Parliament

The Kurdistan Democratic Party commented, on Tuesday, on the Federal Court’s decision on the unconstitutionality of extending the work of the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region.

The party’s Spokesman, Hammoud Muhammad, said in a statement: “It is clear to everyone that the KDP has made every effort to hold elections at the end of the legal period for the fifth parliamentary session of the Kurdistan Parliament, and for that it requested serious steps from the parties participating in the political process during meetings with them and visits to prepare to elections according to the specified legal dates.

It added, “We will not go back now to talking about the steps, but rather we call on all parties and citizens to be helpful in conducting fair elections, each according to his responsibility, and we also ask the government and the concerned institutions to take the necessary steps to make this process a success.”

It stressed, “What matters to the Kurdistan Democratic Party is holding parliamentary elections in Kurdistan.”

The Federal Supreme Court issued, earlier today, Tuesday, a ruling unconstitutional to extend the work of the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region.
