UNESCO Forum Session Highlights Saudi Arabia’s Data, AI Capacity-Building Frameworks

A side session held on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the unesco global forum on the ethics of artificial intelligence (gfeai 2026):uilding frameworks in data and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Saudi Press Agency, the frameworks included integrating AI ethics into education and training programs through an integrated system linking education, training, and professional development, aligning with labor market needs, and supporting the sustainable development of national capabilities.

Titled "From Frameworks to Implementation," the session discussed ways to translate data and AI capacity-building frameworks into practical applications and mechanisms to activate them through strategic partnerships with relevant national entities. It also reviewed lessons learned from the Saudi experience and the potential to adapt them to other countries' needs.

During the session, UNESCO international experts placed the Saudi experience within the global context of capacity building in data and AI and the integration of education, training, and professional development. They also discussed lessons that other countries could benefit from and adapt to their needs, as well as ways to maintain the flexibility of national frameworks and their ability to keep pace with the rapid development of AI, thereby enhancing future readiness.
