Al-ahsa: The Ministry of Culture, through the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, in collaboration with the Heritage Commission, launched the ‘Capacity Building for World Heritage Site Managers’ workshop today in Al-Ahsa Governorate. Running until November 7, 2024, the workshop brings together heritage specialists and emerging professionals from various Arab countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop aims to enhance the digital documentation of World Heritage sites by focusing on strengthening member states’ capabilities in digital preservation techniques and fostering cultural exchange. Through this initiative, a new generation of Arab heritage managers and enthusiasts will gain expertise in leveraging digital technologies for heritage conservation.

This workshop is part of the ‘Dive into Heritage’ project, a digital heritage platform supported by Saudi Arabia’s Funds-in-Trust for Culture at UNESCO. The platform seeks to protect cultural and natural heritage worldwi
de by using digital technologies for data collection and sharing. By enabling easy access to World Heritage sites and cultural assets, the platform aims to preserve and transmit heritage data to future generations.
