Arab Parliament Speaker Condemns Alleged Somaliland Embassy Opening in Occupied Jerusalem

Riyadh: Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohamed Ahmed Al-Yammahi condemned the announcement of the opening of an alleged embassy of the so-called 'Somaliland' in the occupied city of Jerusalem, affirming that this step represents a direct assault on international legitimacy and a political involvement in attempts by the Israeli occupation entity to impose its alleged sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Yammahi stated that Jerusalem will remain a Palestinian Arab city under international law and United Nations resolutions, and that any measures or diplomatic arrangements aimed at altering its political, legal, or demographic status are null and void, and will not grant the occupation entity any legitimacy or change the city's identity and status.

He added that this step constitutes a dangerous precedent and an encouragement of the annexation, Judaization, and settlement policies pursued by the occupation entity, at a time when it continues to commit acts of genocide, forced displacement, and starvation against the Palestinian people.

Moreover, he called on the international community, the UN Security Council, and regional and international parliaments to take urgent measures to preserve the legal and historical status of Jerusalem, and to prevent any attempts to impose a new fait accompli or to confer legitimacy on the occupation's practices in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Al-Yammahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament's full solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia and its firm support for its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
