King Salman Royal Reserve Authority Showcases Environmental Efforts Amid Global Observance

Riyadh: Marking the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, observed annually on June 17, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority highlighted its environmental initiatives through its social media platforms.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority showcased efforts that have included the rehabilitation of more than 750,000 hectares of degraded land, the restoration of vegetation cover, and the planting of over 4 million seedlings across the reserve. These efforts have helped enhance biodiversity and provide a safe habitat for wildlife and native plant species within the reserve, which serves as an ideal ecosystem and a biodiversity-rich landscape.

The authority also highlighted its strategic partnerships with Saudi Arabia's environmental sector, spanning public, private, and nonprofit organizations, through the launch of digital awareness campaigns.

Since its establishment, the authority has worked to promote environmental awareness among local communities in support of its mission to protect and develop the environment.

The authority continues to advance environmental awareness and foster a culture of conservation by shedding light on various environmental issues, safeguarding the reserve's natural resources, and restoring ecological balance. It also seeks to empower local communities in the process.
