KSA, Malaysia Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Mutual Recognition of Halal Certificates

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Malaysian Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) signed a memorandum of cooperation in recognizing Halal certificates for local products in both countries.

The MoU, which was signed by the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey and the Malaysian JAKIM Director General, Dr. Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, includes mutual recognition of halal certificates issued by SFDA Saudi Halal Center and JAKIM, concerning local products imported and exported between the two countries.

It also stipulates cooperation in the conformity of assessment procedures, standard specifications, standards, and technical regulations for issuing halal certificates and the exchange of expertise and knowledge in training, research, and laboratory analysis of halal products
