Over 5,000 Tons of Waste Cleared in Arafat Amid Hajj Cleanliness Efforts

Arafat: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Makkah Municipality, has intensified its field efforts in Arafat as part of the service ecosystem provided to pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season. More than 5,000 tons of waste have been removed and cleared, which is equivalent to the loads of over 330 large transport trucks, to maintain public cleanliness and enhance environmental health in the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the operation included the preparation and deployment of equipment, machinery, and specialized field units. Nearly 8,000 waste containers were distributed across various locations in Arafat. This initiative continuously improves the efficiency of waste collection, transportation, and disposal. Around-the-clock environmental sanitation, washing, and sterilization operations were carried out in high-density areas.

The municipality bolstered its operational efforts with specialized field teams and rapid cleaning machinery to ensure the readiness of the holy sites and the continuity of services during crowd movement and transportation between the sites. This was particularly focused in areas surrounding pilgrims' camps and pedestrian routes.

Inspection teams also conducted intensive monitoring activities on catering kitchens and commercial establishments. This ensured compliance with health requirements and regulatory instructions, guaranteeing the safety of food provided to pilgrims and the quality of services delivered to them.
