Saudi Arabia: We hope the Iranians will see that it is in their interest to work with their neighbors in a positive, stable way

Baghdad Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan expressed his hope that "the Iranians see that it is in their interest to work with their neighbors in a positive way that leads to security, stability and prosperity."

Bin Farhan, who is in Paris to participate in two international summits, said in a press statement: "We have started exploratory discussions (with Iran), it is in its beginning."

"We hope the Iranians will see that it is in their interest to work with their neighbors in a positive way that leads to security, stability and prosperity," he added.

He continued, "If they can see that it is in their interest, I can have hope. Currently, we are in an early stage of discussions."

In response to a question about the impact of the outcome of the upcoming Iranian presidential elections on June 18 on the regional policy of Tehran, Bin Farhan considered that "this effect will be minimal, as the foreign policy is decided by the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei."

He said, "the role of the Supreme Leader is essential, so we do not believe that there will be any fundamental change in Iran's foreign policy. "
