Saudi Auditors Visit Switzerland Under ‘From Riyadh to World’ Initiative

The Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors visited Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday as part of its global tours within the ‘From Riyadh to the World’ initiative.

A delegation from the institute, led by Chief Executive Abdullah Saleh Al-Shebeili, along with several leaders from participating government entities in the initiative, met with the executive management of the Institute of Internal Auditors Switzerland and executives from a group of Swiss government agencies and major companies.

The meeting included a presentation by the Swiss institute, as well as discussions on various topics and successful experiences of the Kingdom. It shed light on best professional practices in internal auditing and the control system in the entities represented by the participants in the initiative.

The discussions highlighted the internal control assessment for readiness of operational processes, in addition to reviewing organizational culture; the regulatory structures of internal audit, governance, risks, and compliance;
and key intersections between internal auditing, governance, risk management, and conformity.

The meeting also addressed the roles played by the internal audit departments at the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) and the General Court of Audit.

Al-Shebeili emphasized that the Swiss institute is one of the best branches of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), making it the current stop for the ‘From Riyadh to the World’ initiative.

He noted that the meeting addressed best professional practices in internal auditing and the control system in the entities represented in the initiative. The discussions focused on ambitious projects undertaken by the Kingdom with an emphasis on the auditing process within these projects.

The “From Riyadh to the World” initiative aims to position Saudi Arabia in a prestigious position within the internal audit profession, while transferring knowledge and successful professional experiences of the Kingdom to countries around the world.

The initiative leverages the qu
alitative leaps witnessed by the Kingdom over the past five years, particularly in the oversight field that has engaged government and private entities.
