Riyadh: The King Salman Center for Disability Research (KSCDR) launched the 'AI Hackathon for People with Disabilities' as part of the activities of the 7th International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation. The initiative aligns with the "Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026," emphasizing Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and modern innovations to serve and empower persons with disabilities, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the hackathon's organization highlights KSCDR's leading role in supporting scientific research, innovation, and the development of sustainable solutions in the field of disability. It provides a platform that unites experts, researchers, innovators, developers, and entrepreneurs from both inside and outside the Kingdom. These participants will work on developing smart solutions and technologies aimed at addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities while promoting their empowerment and active participation in society.
Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KSCDR, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, emphasized that the launch of the AI Hackathon for People with Disabilities reflects the robust support extended by the wise leadership to persons with disabilities. He highlighted the commitment to enabling them to benefit from rapid technological advancements and actively contribute to the national development process.
The program offers a variety of scientific and technical mentoring services, alongside funding opportunities and partnerships. These initiatives aim to enhance project sustainability and help translate promising innovations into practical solutions, significantly impacting the lives of persons with disabilities.
