Over 10,700 Violations of Residency, Labor, and Border Laws Recorded in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: In a series of inspection campaigns conducted across Saudi Arabia from June 04 to June 10, the Ministry of Interior identified a total of 10,725 violations related to residency, labor, and border security laws. The violations included 5,899 related to residency, 3,084 concerning border security, and 1,742 linked to labor laws.

According to Saudi Press Agency, border authorities apprehended 1,418 individuals attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Among these individuals, 43% were Yemenis, 55% Ethiopians, and 02% from other nationalities. Authorities also arrested 34 individuals for attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally. Additionally, 18 people were detained for being involved in transporting, sheltering, and employing those violating the laws.

Currently, 22,026 expatriates, comprising 20,459 men and 1,567 women, are undergoing procedures to enforce regulations. Meanwhile, 14,268 individuals detained for violations have been instructed to contact their respective embassies or consulates to secure appropriate travel documents. Furthermore, 1,240 have been advised to arrange travel, and 7,989 have been repatriated.

The Ministry of Interior issued a warning that facilitating the illegal entry of individuals, transporting them within the Kingdom, or providing them shelter or assistance is subject to severe penalties. Offenders may face up to 15 years in prison and fines reaching SAR1 million. Vehicles and properties used in such activities may also be confiscated.

The ministry emphasized that these actions are considered major crimes warranting arrest. It urged the public to report any violations by contacting 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions, or 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
